I want to start a goat farm. There are many grass fields and forests near my house. I will herd the goats myself and take them to places to graze daily. I want to sell the goats for consumption; here in India, goat meat is a luxury meat. Besides, I want to sell goat milk and dung. Other goat farmers can also come to me for getting their female goats mated.
After my marriage, my husband moved in with me and my mother. There are five of us living here now. This house belongs to my mother; we do not have to pay rent. My husband is a day labourer and is the only one earning an income. Our financial situation is not adequate; it is difficult to make ends meet. My eldest daughter may go to school soon, but we don't have the money for this.
Our family is now living on about ₹2000 (€25) a month. A goat farm takes time to build up, this is why my expected profit in the first year is not so high. But it is already making a big difference in our lives. In the first year, the profit will be about ₹3,996 (€50) a month. In the second year, I expect this to have increased to ₹7,058 (€88) per month. And in the third year, this grows to a monthly average of ₹12,023 (€150).
The amount of my campaign is structured as follows.
€ 100 - 2 adult goats (m)
€ 500 - 8 adult goats (F)
€ 125 - 5 young goats (m+f)
€ 50 - Transport costs for goats
