My story

ABOUT MY CAMPAIGN

About me

My name is Helena Digal. I am 49 years old and originally from Salopojdi, Raika. I currently live in Bhubaneswar, where I work as a housekeeper.

My business

I want to open a stationary and fancy store in the village where I used to live. There is no store here that resembles what I have in mind. This gives me the opportunity to build a successful business. Both the people in my village and the nearby school will benefit from this. The products they need can then be purchased close to home.

In my store, Helena Stationary & Fancy Store, I want to offer a wide range of products including office supplies, personal care items, gifts, and accessories. Customers can also come to me for printing and copying services. Additionally, I want to sell ice cream. With this, I hope to meet the needs of the villagers and the school.

My dream

I don't have big dreams. The only thing I would like is for my son to be able to get married and for myself to have something to do and make a living from.

My environment

My husband left us when the children were still small, and since then I have been a single parent. I currently live with my 28-year-old son in a rented house in Bhubaneswar. My 31-year-old daughter is married and lives with her in-laws.

When I can open my store, I will move back to the village where I come from and where my entire network is. I want to rent a house and a small shop there.

My finances

When I still lived in the village, I did small businesses such as selling fish, working as a laborer, sewing leaf plates, and selling dried fish. But I couldn’t make a living from this. That’s why I moved to Bhubaneswar, where I work as a cleaner in 6 houses, doing tasks like washing dishes, sweeping, and mopping. With this, I earn ₹6,000 (€78) per month, of which ₹2,500 (€32.50) is needed to pay the rent for my house.

If I am able to earn ₹10,000 (€130) per month with my store, I will already be happy! Once the store is running and customers have found me, it is expected that my profit could even be around ₹21,500 (€279) per month.
